Moving Day

Martin and Angeline Kirby exited their limo at the entrance to their temporary home just outside of Buenos Aires. Angeline gasped as she stood up and viewed the front landscaping. It was absolutely breathtaking. Neither of them ever expected to live in the kind of home that they now stood in front of. Six bedrooms, all with their own full bath, a living room that you could almost play football in, a kitchen the likes of which they had only seen in episodes of the “Rich and Famous” shows.

Martin just looked at his wife and smiled. “Wow.”, Was all he could say for minutes. Finally he just said, “And this is the rental! I am sure we’re going to be too spoiled for the house on Woodard St. when we get back.”

The driver brought their bags up and there was a butler there to take them up to the master bedroom. A lady came into the living room area and asked if they would like anything to eat. She was very pleasant and spoke perfect English. Once they indicated that they were merely thirsty and indicated their preferences, the lady returned with exactly what they asked for, right to the brand names. They could wait no longer, and Martin dialed Cameron’s number. The conversation was satisfying and once completed, they relaxed in their temporary home.

While they were overwhelmed with their instant elevated status, they weren’t as comfortable about it as one might expect. They were wondering how many people they actually had in their employ that were doing things for them that they were totally capable of doing for themselves. It seemed wasteful and frankly they were a bit ashamed to ask the staff to do anything for them.

The only thing they were sure of is that tomorrow morning, they would both be heading to the Waldo facility, and they were both almost too excited to sleep that night.

The next morning, they both rose early to get a start on their new life and were a little taken aback that the coffee was already brewed for them from freshly ground coffee beans that were grown less than fifteen miles from their new home. The lady who served them their drinks the night before was in the kitchen as they came in and she served their coffee to them as they normally took it. Martin’s black and Angie’s with cream and two sugars. It was apparent that Simon had done a little research.

Every effort was made to help them feel comfortable. Cupboards were filled with what they would have stocked their own cabinets with, right down to the brand names they were used to. No expense had been spared. A satisfying breakfast was prepared and served to them. As they were at the table having their meal, their eye’s met. At the moment, both realize that the morning dance they’d performed almost every morning of their lives together had been undone. It was decided that the next morning, and every morning thereafter, they would insist on making their own breakfast.
